The map measures approx. 67 x 120cm. The paper in the map is handmade, fluted and assembled from 6 sheets before the map was drawn. Watermarks in the map paper, which are only visible in transparent light, were revealed when the canvas the map was glued on was removed. They show that the paper was made in the period 1774 - 1781 at the Øvre/Nedre paper mill, which was located by the Akerselven in Christiania. The watermark motif is two-part - the main motif consists of the Norwegian national lion with a crown. The owners of the mill in this period were Andreas Huus and Wilhelm Brochmann. We find their initials H & B, as well as quantity and type designation in the countermark.[1] (See pictures below).

Jens Irgens Müller
About Jens Irgens Müller, it is known that he was appointed as sub-conductor in the districts around Kongsberg under Christopher Hammer, who was general conductor in Akershus diocese. He is referred to in a couple of places as a surveyor. The surveyors of that time usually received their education at the military school in Copenhagen, and often received a military degree, but Jens Irgens Müller is not listed in any officer list.[1]
Jens Irgens Müller drew several maps of areas in Modum, Eiker and Lier, i.a. Gaarden Solberg, where Solberg Spinderi was established, above Hassel jernverk in Modum and above Fossesholm manor in Øvre Eiker.[2]
The National Library in Oslo has a map of the farm Nedre Hoen in Eiker, dated 1784, drawn by the same cartographer.[3]
