Beer Mug-Beer glass

Beer was the most common alcoholic beverage in Norway. It was usually drunk from mugs with handles in silver, pewter or ceramics. When we got glassworks in Norway, beer mugs were also made of glass. Glass was considered an exclusive material and sometimes the beer mugs got silver lids. Then they have also been happy to engrave the owner's initials.

Glass intended for beer, was also made without a handle.

Until the middle of the 18th century, farm owners had a duty to grow a certain amount of hops. It was primarily used as a spice and preservative in beer, but hop decoction was also used in folk medicine.
